Starting with Crandon Park

Located on a breathtaking location, with the Atlantic Ocean on the east side and Biscayne Bay to the west. You can extensively explore the various ecosystems of the park including its dunes, mangroves, coastal hammock and sea grass beds. You’ll be delighted when observing herons, ospreys and the many species of brilliantly colored butterflies. The Park is also home to rare and beautiful plants like the beach peanut, Biscayne prickly ash and the coontie. The Beach at Crandon Park

The beautiful two mile beach is consistently graded among the top ten beaches in the country. Celebrated for its pristine sand, calm water, winding promenade, multiple picnic areas with tables and grills. The ocean offers challenging sails for wind and kite surfers.

Virginia Key Beach Park

Minutes away from the center of the Village and housing one of the most exciting beaches in South Florida, Virginia Key Beach is well known for all of its secluded spots, that is if you’re in the mood and willing to explore a bit. Known as an ecological treasure, containing the largest mangrove in the state. On the north tip of Virginia Key the park features a mountain biking area with many novice, intermediate and advanced trails to be explored.

The Park is home of a historic lighthouse built in 1825 and reconstructed in 1846, and is the oldest standing structure in Miami Dade County. Come to the park to sunbathe, swim and picnic on more than one mile of sandy Atlantic beachfront. Biking, kayaking and fishing are some of the favorite past times.

The Village, incorporated in 1991, is an island municipality governed by a Village Council and administered by a Village Manager, Department Directors and professional staff. As part of the community’s planned growth, an Art in Public Places Ordinance was issued in 2001 to enhance the Village’s municipal spaces and buildings with significant art works of quality and universal values. The Monaco Reflecting Pools and the Bedia Plazas are two examples of this program.
